Ekk Deewana Tha (Hindi: एक दीवाना था; English: There was a Passionate Lover) is an upcoming Hindi language romantic drama film, written and directed by Gautham Menon, featuring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson, in her Bollywood debut, in the lead roles.[1][2] This film is a remake of Gautham Menons own Tamil film, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, which also got remade into Telugu as Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010, featuring soundtrack and film score composed by A. R. Rahman, while the cinematography and editing are handled by M. S. Prabhu and Anthony Gonsalves, respectively. Singer Chinmayi has provided the talking voice of the female lead, reprising her role from the original Tamil version and the Telugu remake where she dubbed for actresses Trisha Krishnan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu respectively. While on production stage, the film was titled Prem Katha, but was renamed as Ekk Deewana Tha, as the director wanted some abstract title for the movie, similar to the original.[3] The film, produced by Fox Star Studios, Photon Kathaas and R.S. Infotainment is currently in post-production stage and will release on 17th February 2012.
